The LearnHigher Centre at Bournemouth University is designed to provide a space for students to use for any collaborative social learning activity that enhances their personal development. The official launch of the room took place on 25 October 2006 after extensive refurbishment which lasted for several months. Professor Paul Curran, Vice-Chancellor of Bournemouth University, declared the Centre open by emphasising on the role of Personal Development Planning as 'a key element of our approach to Releasing Potential'.
At the launch, Chris Keenan, Learning and Teaching Fellow at Bournemouth University and the Bournemouth LearnHigher learning area co-ordinator, described the transformation and refurbishment of this space at Talbot campus with the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) funding. She also commented on the aims and objectives of LearnHigher which is the country's biggest collaborative HEFCE funded CETL. Bournemouth University's role within the CETL is to develop, share and broker resources, case studies and examples of good practice in Personal Development Planning.
